MINIX released two new TV boxes in IFA 2014 in Berlin. They are the NEO X6 which uses the new Amlogic S805 quad core CPU and the NEO Z64 which uses Intel chip and supports Android/Windows dual system.
MINIX NEO X6 Android TV box is the first device of MINIX to use an Amlogic S805 quad core CPU and with the quad core Mali 450 MP4 GPU. But the new S805 chip do not like the S802 which supports 4K function, it only supports 1080P resolution. While it is still good as it supports HEVC / H.265 hard decoding to 1080p resolution. As to other specifications, it uses an Android 4.4 OS, owns 1GB DDR3 RAM and 8GB eMMC ROM, supports 2.4GHz wifi and Bluetooth 4.0. As we known, MINIX's devices always support XBMC. This NEO X6 remains the same. The XBMC can offer great stability and compatibility for X6. Besides the WIFI, it also supports wired network with a LAN interface. It also supports HDMI and OTG function.
