Difference Between MINIX NEO X8-H and MINIX NEO X8 Android TV Box

MINIX launched new NEO series products - NEO X8-H and NEO X8 which are in hot sale now. As we can image, MINIX NEO X8-H has stronger specs and performance. It uses the S802-H quad core ARM Cortex A9r4 processor, octa core Mali 450 GPU, with 2GBRAM and 16GB ROM, bases on the latest Android 4.4 OS and supports dual band wifi and 4K video play.
Compared with MINIX NEO X8, NEO X8-H carries a stronger CPU - Amlogic S802-H which is different from the S802 that the NEO X8 uses. Many people will ask: what's the difference of S802 and S802-H? Now, let me tell you the answer. Both S802-H and S802 have good performance, it's sure. The difference is on the ability for dolby and dts. NEO X8 with the S802 CPU should use the XBMC or MX player S/W.to decoding Dolby and DTS(software decoding), but the S802-H supports hardware decoding dolby and dts directly. It means that no matter which video player you use, NEO X8-H will always have sound. That's another big difference between MINIX NEO X8-H and NEO X8 besides the ROM. This case also appear in another brand Android TV box Tronsmart Vega S89-H(with S802-H SoC) and Tronsmart Vega S89(with S802 SoC).
Another obvious difference is the ROM, we mentioned earlier. Most of the TV boxes are built in flash storage. But the NEO X8 and NEO X8-H use the eMMC Flash, that's the advantage. We all know the eMMC has better stability and will never drop the firmware. NEO X8-H has twice times of ROM of that NEO X8 with the 16GB large eMMC storage.
It could be said, MINIX NEO X8-H is the advanced version of MINIX NEO X8, but both of them are cheap price Android TV box.
